چکیده مقاله:

One promising route for hydrogen generation is water electrolysis, a clean process that relies on the cathodic hydrogen evolution reaction and the anodic oxygen evolution reaction. Designing a durable catalyst for oxygen evolution is more difficult than for hydrogen evolution, since the anodic environment is harsher and often diminishes catalytic activity. To address this, the present study developed a bilayer electrocatalyst with reduced overpotential for oxygen evolution by combining two electrodeposition strategies: constant current and pulse current. In the first step, a NiCo layer was deposited onto copper foam (Cu Foam) using constant current deposition in a chloride-based electrolyte. This was followed by deposition of a NiFeSe layer on top of the NiCo film through pulse current deposition in a selenide bath. For benchmarking, each layer was also deposited separately on copper foam. Electrochemical analysis demonstrated that the NiFeSe@NiCo@CuF catalyst required an overpotential of only ۱۶۲ mV to achieve ۱۰۰ mA/cm². Microscopic examination confirmed the formation of Ni–Co nanosheets in the first layer and Ni–Fe–Se nanoparticles in the second layer.
