چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: Striae Gravidarum (SG) is a common skin lesion resulting from the stretching of elastic and collagen fibers. A family history of SG is a significant non-modifiable risk factor. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of Pistacia atlantica (Beni) ointment and Argan oil as two natural treatments in preventing the incidence and reducing the severity of SG in primigravid women with a family history. Methods: In this randomized, triple-blind clinical trial, ۱۵۰ primigravid women with a family history of SG were assigned to three groups of ۵۰. From the ۱۴th week of pregnancy until delivery, the groups applied Beni ointment, Argan oil, or a placebo (base ointment) twice daily on susceptible areas. The incidence of SG was recorded at week ۳۶, and its severity was measured using the validated Davey score (۰-۹). Data were analyzed using SPSS version ۲۶ with Chi-square, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey's tests. Findings: The incidence of SG was significantly lower in the Beni ointment (۲۸%) and Argan oil (۳۴%) groups compared to the placebo group (۶۲%) (p < ۰.۰۰۱). The mean severity score of SG in the Beni ointment group (۲.۹ ± ۱.۲) was significantly lower than in the Argan oil group (۳.۸ ± ۱.۴), and both intervention groups were significantly lower than the placebo group (۷.۱ ± ۱.۹) (p < ۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: Although both interventions were effective, Beni ointment demonstrated significant superiority over Argan oil in reducing the severity of SG in this high-risk population with a family history. Both options can be recommended as part of a preventive care program, with Beni ointment being the preferred choice.
