چکیده مقاله:
There is a growing consensus on that the strategy of adaptive reuse can be deployed responsively to attend to the changing needs of users. Such a strategy may be also considered as a means to partially transfer the architectural experience of the past to contemporary users and the ones to come. Converting buildings to keep them responsive to new uses to meet demands prompted by the impulses resulting from changing circumstance and situations, has been an issue throughout the architectural history. Nowadays, adaptive reuse can be argued as an effective way to attain sustainability in the broadest sense, including cultural and ecological aspects and a much-complimented strategy in restoration and conservation of buildings of historical, cultural and social value. In this paper, the adaptation cases of three historic Houses to serve as an integrated educational facility have been scrutinized. In Iranian city of Tabriz. These buildings which belong to Tabriz Islamic Art University. Adopting an analytical approach, Focus of this study is on these now-educational buildings that have been converted from former residential use by the means of field survey and comparative study.
