Functionalizing MIL‑۱۰۰(Fe) with carbohydrazide and thiocarbohydrazide moieties significantly enhances the adsorption capacity for common nitroaromatic pollutants from aqueous solutions. The structural integrity of the parent MOF upon modification was rigorously confirmed through comprehensive characterization techniques, including Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The experimental results unequivocally demonstrate a stepwise increase in adsorption efficiency, following the order: pristine MIL‑۱۰۰(Fe) < carbohydrazide‑MIL‑۱۰۰(Fe) < thiocarbohydrazide‑MIL‑۱۰۰(Fe). Furthermore, the thiocarbohydrazide-functionalized material exhibited a pronounced and highly favorable temperature-dependent adsorption behavior, suggesting strong chemical interactions within the pore environment.
