چکیده مقاله:

Considering development of different usages of steel shear walls, effect of openings in the web beam based on seismic behavior should be investigated. The present study was conducted to numerically investigate the effect of opening dimensions in the web beam on seismic performance of steel shear walls. For this purpose, using the finite element method, ۱۲ steel shear wall samples with different web beam opening ratios (B-۰.۱۲ to ẞ-۰.۶۲) and variable shear wall length (-۱.۰۷ to ۲-۵.۳۶) were analyzed in ABAQUS software. Quasi-static loading and strength, energy, and ductility criteria were used for evaluation. Results show increase of energy absorption rate of the improved samples by four times and increase of their ductility by ۹-۳۳ %. Opening ratio of ẞ-۰.۲۵ has created the best balance between stiffness, ductility and energy absorption. Opening ratio of ẞ-۰.۶۲ has dissipated the highest energy but significantly reduced initial stiffness. Concurrent increase of ß and ۲ led to stress concentration and expansion of plastic strains around the opening and its transfer to the steel shear wall. The samples with larger openings increased local failure of shear wall and reduced damage in the beam.
