This research investigates the dynamic response of ۲×۲ piles subjected to liquefaction-induced lateral spreading. A three-dimensional finite element analysis was conducted using the OpenSees software. In this research, a ۲×۲ steel pile group was modeled in sloping ground. The ground consisted of three layers: a liquefiable layer between non-liquefiable soil layers. The critical state bounding surface elastic-plastic sand model was employed to simulate the undrained behavior of saturated sand under dynamic loading. At the same time, a coupled formulation was utilized to evaluate soil displacements and pore water pressures. The numerical results were validated with a lg large-scale shake table test. In this study, the effects of input motion characteristics on the dynamic behavior of the pile system were investigated. To achieve this purpose, two scaled earthquake records and a sinusoidal loading were applied to the model separately. The results, including maximum pile bending moments and soil lateral displacements, were presented and discussed in this paper. The results revealed the influence of harmonic and real motion on the pile behavior. The harmonic loading caused a slightly higher bending moment in the piles. It was found that the maximum bending moment in the piles occurred at the time corresponding to the peak ground velocity in the input motion.
