چکیده مقاله:

The accelerated urbanization and limited availability of surface land have intensified the imperative for exploiting subsurface spaces in civil engineering infrastructure. Deep excavations within urban contexts entail considerable geotechnical challenges and stability risks, necessitating rigorous numerical modelling and advanced engineering solutions. This research employs comprehensive numerical simulations to elucidate the soil arching effect, demonstrating that its activation facilitates a pronounced redistribution of horizontal stresses toward support elements, thereby markedly diminishing lateral earth pressures exerted on excavation retaining systems. This stress reallocation not only enhances structural safety but also optimizes construction expenditures. Moreover, the study investigates the impact of a constant arching ratio on the determination of optimal ground anchor lengths, revealing that precise anchor sizing is critical to ensuring stability across variable depths and accentuating the pivotal role of soil arching in achieving both sustainable and cost-effective design strategies.
