چکیده مقاله:
The purpose this study was to investigate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on body image and psychological helplessness in postmenopausal women. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all postmenopausal women who referred to the health centers of Meshgin Shahr in the second half of ۲۰۲۲, ۳۶ of whom were selected as samples using the available sampling method and were randomly divided into two groups of ۱۸ people, experimental and control. The experimental group received eight ۷۵-minute sessions of acceptance and commitment therapy. Physical Self-Description Questionnaire (PSDQ) and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) were used to collect data. The collected data were analyzed by univariate analysis of covariance and multivariate with SPSS۲۰ software. Based on the findings, acceptance and commitment therapy increases body image (F=۱۵.۸۶, P<۰.۰۱) and reduces depression (F=۱۸.۸۴), anxiety (F=۲۷.۰۵) and stress (F=۲۱.۱۱) in women. Menopause was influential (P<۰.۰۱). It can be concluded that acceptance and commitment therapy is effective in increasing body image and reducing psychological helplessness in postmenopausal women, and the use of this therapy by health-therapy centers can be an effective step towards improving the psychological health status of postmenopausal women.
