چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Simulation-based education (SBE) is increasingly recognized as a valuable pedagogical approach in healthcare. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of SBE on the management and learning of operating room (OR) students across nursing, medical, and allied health disciplines. The focus is on evaluating how SBE impacts knowledge acquisition, skill development, and teamwork abilities. Method: A mixed-methods research design was employed, incorporating a quantitative pre- and post-test assessment of knowledge and skills, as well as qualitative interviews to explore students’ experiences and perceptions of SBE. Participants included nursing, medical, and allied health students enrolled in OR-related courses at a university teaching hospital. Simulation scenarios were designed to replicate common OR procedures and challenges. Conclusion: SBE provides a safe and controlled environment for students to practice and develop essential OR skills. The realistic simulation scenarios allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, improving their readiness for real-world clinical practice. The interprofessional nature of SBE promotes effective teamwork and communication, crucial for optimal patient care in the OR setting. Result: Quantitative analysis revealed significant improvements in students’ knowledge and technical skills following participation in SBE. Qualitative data indicated that students perceived SBE as a valuable learning tool, enhancing their confidence, decision-making abilities, and teamwork skills. The interprofessional aspect of SBE was particularly appreciated, fostering better communication and collaboration among students from different disciplines.
