چکیده مقاله:

The brain affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD) becomes burdened with amyloid-beta plaques, disrupted by abnormal tau proteins, and weakened by persistent inflammation. The intricate processes of AD make treatment exceptionally difficult. Despite ongoing discoveries, demographic trends highlight the growing impact of the disease. Antibody-based therapies are just one aspect of drug development for AD. These treatments have revolutionized oncology and hold potential for similar breakthroughs in AD. However, since amyloid is a key structural element of blood vessels, anti-amyloid-beta antibodies carry the risk of causing cerebral bleeding. This highlights a critical necessity for AD therapies that engage the immune system to target pathological proteins while ensuring minimal inflammation or harm to healthy brain tissue. Antibodies play a crucial role in AD treatment by targeting pathological proteins such as amyloid-beta and tau. Monoclonal antibodies are designed to reduce amyloid-beta plaques, potentially slowing cognitive decline. These therapies mark a significant advancement in disease-modifying treatments, though challenges such as safety concerns and blood-brain barrier limitations remain.
