چکیده مقاله:

Objective: To determine whether there is a relationship between well-being and burnout in healthcare professionals and patient safety Study methods: This study designed a systematic review. References were searched from May ۲۰۱۰ to August ۲۰۲۴ through the Embase and Scopus databases, and references were searched from July ۲۰۱۴ to May ۲۰۲۲ for eligible articles. Eligibility criteria were quantitative and empirical studies that included ۱) health or occupational characteristics, and ۲) patient safety, in healthcare populations. Results: Thirty-three studies were identified. Ten of the ۲۷ studies that measured well-being found a significant association between poorer patient safety and patient safety, with six other studies reporting some but not all use cases of the association, and one study found a significant association but in the opposite direction. ۱۶ of the ۳۰ studies that measured burnout found a significant association between burnout and patient safety, while four other studies found an association between one or more (but not all) of the burnout subscales and patient safety. Conclusion: In the majority of studies, poor health and high burnout are associated with poor safety outcomes such as medical errors. The implications of this review suggest the need for healthcare organizations to consider improving the mental health of individuals as well as creating safer work environments when planning interventions to improve patient safety. Keywords: burnout, patient safety, review Study
