چکیده مقاله:

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a common condition that significantly affects the quality of life, particularly among aging athletes. As the population ages, the incidence of LBP in athletes has become an increasing concern. Aging increases susceptibility to musculoskeletal disorders due to factors such as diminished muscle mass, reduced flexibility, and degenerative disc disease. This article explores the prevalence, causes, and implications of LBP in aging athletes, emphasizing the need for tailored prevention and management strategies to maintain their health and performance. Methods: This study adopted a comprehensive approach, which included a review of the literature related to published studies in the field of sports medicine and orthopedic journals. Data was collected from various sources. Key criteria included the frequency of LBP episodes, levels of severity, and its impact on athletic performance and daily activities. Results: The findings revealed that approximately ۷۰% of aging athletes experience LBP at some point in their careers. The most common risk factors identified were prior back injuries, participation in high-impact sports, and insufficient recovery periods. The results also indicated that conservative treatments, such as physical therapy and exercise modifications, were effective in managing LBP in this population. In particular, a tailored exercise program focused on core strengthening and flexibility significantly reduced pain levels and improved function. Additionally, athletes who engaged in regular stretching and strength training before and after activity reported lower incidences of LBP. Conclusion: In conclusion, low back pain remains a prevalent issue among aging athletes, necessitating proactive measures for management and prevention. Understanding the unique challenges faced by this demographic is critical for developing effective treatment strategies. By implementing personalized exercise regimens and increasing awareness of proper body mechanics, it is possible to reduce the prevalence and impact of LBP, thus enhancing the athletic longevity and quality of life for aging athletes. Future research should focus on long-term outcomes of various interventions and the role of multidisciplinary approaches in managing LBP.
