چکیده مقاله:
Effective treatments for cancer are still under investigation. Nanotechnology is one of the fields under investigation by introducing nanoparticle-based systems as therapeutic agents or drug delivery vehicles. Selenium, as a trace element, plays an important role in the human immune response and cancer prevention. In this study, the effect of selenium nanoparticles on proliferation and cell death in metastatic breast cancer cells MDA-MB-۲۳۱ was investigated. The nanoparticles were synthesized by green synthesis using vitamin C. The results of electron microscopy and DLS tests confirm the formation of nanoparticles with spherical morphology and appropriate dispersion. Different concentrations of nanoparticles on MDA-MB-۲۳۱ breast cancer cells were investigated by the MTT method. The effect of nanoparticles on the rate of cell death was measured by flow cytometry. Selenium nanoparticles induced cell death in a dose- and time-dependent manner in the MDA-MB-۲۳۱ cell line. Secondary apoptosis was recorded at the IC۵۰ concentration of nanoparticles for MDA-MB-۲۳۱ cells. The use of selenium nanoparticles may provide various inhibitory mechanisms against cancer cells by generating ROS after uptake by cells, which causes cancer cell death.
