چکیده مقاله:

Hearing loss is defined as having thresholds below ۲۰ dB in both ears, affecting approximately ۵% of the global population, or ۴۳۰ million people, with projections exceeding ۷۰۰ million by ۲۰۵۰. Most hearing loss cases are acquired and preventable, making it crucial to identify associated risk factors. Research has shown a strong link between auditory and renal functions, with kidney diseases often leading to hearing impairments. Initial reports, such as those on Alport syndrome, have established connections between hereditary nephritis and deafness. Observational studies indicate that children with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) undergoing hemodialysis show significant hearing loss related to treatment duration. Factors like electrolyte imbalances, hypertension, and ototoxic medications also contribute to this issue. Consequently, a systematic review was conducted to explore the relationship between kidney function and hearing loss.
