چکیده مقاله:

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a significant psychological concern among adolescents, often associated with low self-esteem and diminished self-confidence. This study examines the effectiveness of Reality Therapy in enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence in adolescents engaging in NSSI. Employing a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design, ۳۰ adolescents diagnosed with NSSI were selected and randomly assigned to either the intervention or control group. The intervention group participated in ۱۰ sessions of Reality Therapy, focusing on personal responsibility, needs satisfaction, and adaptive decision-making. The research instruments include: Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES)(۱۹۶۵), Self-Confidence Scale (SCS) developed by Marlowe & Crowne (۱۹۶۱), Demographic Questionnaire, Session Attendance and Engagement Checklist Based on the work of Wubbolding (۲۰۱۱). Data were collected using validated self-esteem and self-confidence scales before and after the intervention. ANCOVA results revealed a significant increase in self-esteem and self-confidence in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < .۰۵). These findings highlight the potential of Reality Therapy as an effective intervention for improving psychological well-being in adolescents with self-injurious behaviors. Future research should explore long-term effects and mediating psychological factors.
