چکیده مقاله:

This paper delves into the statistical analysis of seismic events that have impacted southeastern Anatolia from ۱۹۰۰ to ۲۰۲۳, with a specific focus on the implications for earthquake preparedness in the region. By meticulously examining data compiled from reputable international seismological agencies and databases, this study dissects the temporal and spatial patterns of earthquake occurrences, scrutinizes their magnitudes, analyzes hypocentral depths, and characterizes the frequency distribution of seismic events. The overarching objective is to identify zones of heightened seismic risk, delineate periods of intense seismic activity, and furnish critical insights that can bolster earthquake prediction capabilities, enhance risk management strategies, and, most importantly, improve community preparedness for future seismic events in this vulnerable region. Southeastern Anatolia emerges from this research as a region of considerable seismic activity, marked by a history of major, often devastating earthquakes. The spatial distribution of these events starkly highlights the pivotal role of active fault systems, notably the East Anatolian Fault Zone, in governing earthquake generation. Temporal analysis of earthquake occurrences reveals a complex interplay of periods characterized by heightened seismic activity interspersed with intervals of relative quiescence. However, despite rigorous investigation, discernible and consistently predictive patterns within the earthquake sequence remain elusive, precluding the accurate forecasting of precise timing and location for future earthquakes. This underscores the critical importance of proactive preparedness measures. This comprehensive study, by providing granular statistical information and in-depth analyses, aims to significantly contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the intricate earthquake phenomenon in southeastern Anatolia. The findings presented here can be instrumental for a diverse range of stakeholders, including governmental agencies responsible for disaster management, civil engineers tasked with designing resilient infrastructure, and researchers dedicated to advancing seismological knowledge. Furthermore, these results can be directly applied to refine earthquake forecasting models, inform the development of more robust building codes, guide the creation of effective risk mitigation strategies, and, crucially, elevate the level of community preparedness to ensure greater resilience in the face of future seismic challenges.
