The Mediterranean region has a long history of devastating earthquakes due to its complex tectonic setting. This paper presents a statistical analysis of earthquakes that occurred in the region from ۱۹۰۰ to ۲۰۲۴. The study aims to identify temporal and spatial patterns of earthquake occurrence, analyze their magnitude and depth, and ultimately, assess the level of preparedness of the region for earthquakes. In this research, data on Mediterranean earthquakes were collected from authoritative international sources and analyzed using statistical methods and seismic data analysis. The results show that the temporal distribution of earthquakes during the study period is non-homogeneous, with earthquake clusters observed in specific time periods. The spatial pattern of earthquake occurrence shows that most earthquakes occurred along the region's major faults, particularly in the plate boundary zones. The study of earthquake magnitudes shows that earthquakes of moderate and large magnitudes have occurred in the Mediterranean region during the study period. However, the number of large earthquakes (magnitude greater than ۵) is less compared to other seismically active regions of the world. The analysis of earthquake depth also shows that most Mediterranean earthquakes occurred at shallow depths (less than ۴۰ km), which can be more dangerous. Finally, using the results of this study and considering other factors affecting preparedness for earthquakes, such as geological conditions and site conditions, the level of preparedness of the Mediterranean region for earthquakes has been assessed.
