Optimization of THD in multilevel inverter output voltage waveform using continues genetic algorithm & PSO

Using multilevel inverters in fuel cell & solar cell & wind turbines is increasing. Harmonic reduction techniques in multilevel inverters are considered. Mathematical methods for reducing the harmonic are presented in some of the literatures Mathematical methods are not suitable for high level inverters.In this paper, a continues genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization techniqueis applied to multilevel to determine optimum switching angle for cascade multilevel inverter for elimination some higher order harmonics while maintaining first order. this techniques can be applied to multilevel inverters with any number of level; two algorithms: 1-CGA and 2- PSO is used to optimize THD in Multilevel inverters.For example, tow algorithm applied in seven and eleven level inverter and theoretical and simulated results are used to compare these techniques. In addition, this paper proposes a method for optimization of specific harmonics and improving the characteristics of switching in same level inverters.
