Rapid urbanization and increasing air pollution in metropolitan areas have highlighted the need for sustainable and innovative solutions to enhance urban quality of life. Vertical gardens and green walls, as one of the most effective technologies in sustainable urban design, play a key role in reducing air pollution, moderating ambient temperatures, and improving urban aesthetics. This study, employing a literature review and comparative analysis, examines successful global projects in cities such as Singapore, Milan, Tokyo, Paris, Sydney, Dubai, and Mexico City, analyzing the positive impacts of these technologies in environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The findings indicate that green walls contribute to urban sustainability by improving air quality, reducing temperatures, and creating habitats for plant and animal species. Moreover, these technologies have a significant impact on reducing energy consumption in buildings and enhancing the mental well-being of citizens. Finally, the study offers practical recommendations for implementing this technology in Iran, including the use of drought-resistant plant species, the design of efficient irrigation systems, and the execution of pilot projects in major cities. This research not only provides actionable strategies but also lays the groundwork for future studies on the economic and social effects of green walls.
