It is almost impossible to imagine a world without the Internet and smart devices. The speed of technological growth and the expansion of the Internet is so high that almost all the tools of our lives are somehow connected to it. Today, the performance of various devices from refrigerators and curtains to televisions to cars is somehow tied to modern technologies. The entry of the Internet of Things into the automotive industry has changed the way cars are designed to some extent. Today, cars that use the Internet of Things are easily connected to other cars, smartphones and even city data centers. Features such as managing the music player in the car, checking the car's performance and even driving self-driving cars via the Internet of Things have made driving very attractive and enjoyable. This article examines the application of the Internet of Things in the automotive industry. This emerging technology enables cars to connect to the Internet, exchange information between them and other systems. In this article, the concept of the Internet of Things and its advantages and challenges are first discussed. Then, various applications of IoT in the automotive industry are examined, including improving security, vehicle monitoring and diagnostics, traffic optimization, and intelligent driver services. Finally, the challenges facing the adoption and implementation of this technology in the automotive industry are discussed and solutions to address them are presented.
