چکیده مقاله:
The development and use of molecular markers are revolutionizing oilseed crop breeding andallow the selection of varieties showing improved tolerance to abiotic stresses like drought, salinity, and high temperatures. The markers, are DNA fragments associated with specific genes, enable precision genetic mapping and marker-assisted selection (MAS), reducing the time requiredfor breeding program’s compared with the traditional approach. This review identifies molecularmarkers playing a critical role in identifying genetic traits related to stress tolerance and allowingbreeders to select plants that can thrive under adverse conditions. The integration of advancedgenomic technologies, including CRISPR and other gene-editing technologies, further enhancesthe potential for developing climate-resilient oilseed varieties. Despite these advances, challengespersist, especially in tackling polygenic traits and overcoming the regulatory hurdles with GMOs.Future research directions emphasize the need for innovative breeding strategies that leveragemolecular markers to improve oilseed crop resilience against climate change while ensuring foodsecurity for a growing global population.
