چکیده مقاله:
This study explores the seismic characteristics of the Kopeh Dagh region, focusing on the recent earthquake that occurred on September ۲۲, ۲۰۲۴, with a magnitude of ۵.۲. The region is characterized by a complex tectonic framework, including the Binalud and Kopeh Dagh mountain ranges, which are intersected by various fault systems. Utilizing data from the Iranian Seismological Centre and advanced modeling techniques such as the ISOLA method, we analyze seismic waveforms to determine the moment tensor and focal mechanisms of this event. Additionally, we provide a historical context by examining significant earthquakes in the region, including the Agh-Tapeh earthquake around ۲۰۰۰ BC and the devastating Esfarayen earthquake in AD ۱۶۹۵. Our findings reveal that while there is no evidence of strike-slip faulting mechanisms in this area, the recent Bojnourd earthquake exhibited a right-lateral strike-slip mechanism. This research underscores the importance of continuous monitoring and analysis to enhance our understanding of seismic hazards in Kopeh Dagh and its surroundings.
