Violation of the Right to a Healthy Environment Concerning Nations Targeted by Unilateral Coercive Measures

Unilateral sanctions are a type of unilateral coercive measure that have been discussed in numerousinternational documents due to their extensive impact on fundamental human rights. This article aimsto elucidate that the states imposing unilateral coercive measures have violated fundamental humanrights and numerous provisions of international documents through such actions against other states.This research examines the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on human rights. Theresults of the study highlight the necessity of establishing a coherent international mechanism tocounteract the imposition of unilateral coercive measures by states. This mechanism should includethe preparation of periodic reports by targeted countries on the human rights impacts of unilateralcoercive measures on their citizens, and the formation of specialized bodies for individuals andinstitutions harmed by unilateral coercive measures to seek redress for human rights violations andcompensation for their damages under the supervision of the United Nations Security Council.
