چکیده مقاله:

Passive control systems, particularly resilient friction connections, are crucial in ensuring the safetyof occupants and mitigating the economic impact of seismic disasters. In this paper, we have taken anovel approach to evaluate the seismic behavior of such connection at small sizes, to develop it asefficient energy dissipaters during earthquakes. Our laboratory experiment tested a friction connectionfrom a three-story two-span structure using the Seismic Analysis Code under quasi-static loading. Theresults were unequivocal: the connection demonstrated no deterioration or capacity reduction underconsecutive loading conditions. This study confirms the effectiveness of friction connections as anessential component of a moment-resisting frame with semi-rigid connections, without or withminimal damage This is attributed to higher energy dissipation and less energy distribution throughoutthe structure due to the performance of these connections as passive control systems within thestructure.
