This paper explores the contemporary relevance of classical New Product Development (NPD)models for the management of modern construction and civil engineering businesses. In ۲۰۲۰ aunified conceptual model of NPD named Conceptual Model I was created by using AnalyticalHierarchy Process (AHP) analyses of the correlation coefficients between NPD sub-factors of successand performance measures; drawn from the dominant and classical NPD models. The present researchis the first to address the generalisation of Conceptual Model I in the context of construction and civilengineering to enhance the management of earthquake risk reduction strategies. By replicatingConceptual Model I, the study finds that there are significant benefits for successful knowledgetransfer by uniting NPD concepts in the civil engineering sector, but these are contextually specificwhere a variety of contingencies shape the relevance and application of the conceptual model.
