Every year, a large number of earthquakes occur in different parts of Iran, which causeearthquakes. An earthquake-resistant structure can provide more safety for people. Metal structureswith unique properties and countless advantages, which have been used in construction for centuries,are a suitable and effective solution in earthquake-prone areas. Waffle roof is a two-sided slab systemthat reduces the dead load of the structure and makes the building lighter. It also has many economicand technical advantages. In this article, using the ETABS ۲۰۱۸ software, a comparison of thebehavior and seismic analysis of steel structures with waffle and flat roofs was investigated. Theresults showed that the waffle roof system reduces the maximum periodicity, maximum displacement,relative lateral displacement, base shear and maximum lateral load of the floors and is safer inearthquake conditions than the flat roof.
