چکیده مقاله:

In this study, a novel hybrid organic-inorganic pigment (HOIP) utilizing zinc ions was developed to improve thecorrosion resistance of epoxy coatings on steel. The formation of particles and a complex involving zinc and organiccomponents were verified through characterization methods. Electrochemical corrosion assessments conducted onuncoated mild steel samples immersed in a saline environment, as well as on steel samples coated with an epoxy layercontaining HOIP, demonstrated the enhanced efficacy afforded by the HOIP. The HOIP-enriched coating exhibitedself-healing properties. In conjunction with empirical observations, machine learning algorithms were employed tosimulate electrochemical data, effectively forecasting long-term corrosion patterns from short-term observations. Moreover, the integration of HOIP into the epoxy coating resulted in superior thermal and mechanical attributes whencontrasted with the unmodified coating. These outcomes position HOIP as a viable option for the creation of selfrepairing, robust coatings that guard against steel corrosion.
