چکیده مقاله:

In the present research, the zeolite ۴A powders were produced from an industrial waste to use in the treatment of wastewater discharged from zinc industry. The principal aim of study is to define the relationship between the adsorptive properties and physico-chemical characteristics including: crystallinity, porous structure and electrical charge. For this purpose, the XRD, BET-BJH and zeta potential measurement techniques were applied. The obtained powders were subjected to industrial wastewater mainly contaminated with zinc ions to determine the adsorption capacity. It was found that the crystallinity of zeolite plays an important role in wastewater treatment which exerts critical influence on zeta potential and pore size distribution of particles which could affect the diffusion and electrostatic adsorption. Although the zeta potential of zeolite powder is effective in adsorption of zinc ions, the formation of larger pores, ۴۸ nm, is crucial factor.
