چکیده مقاله:

Being an estranged human being in an alienated universe, the protagonist of V. S. Naipaul's A House for Mr Biswas searches for an identity. Looking through the perspective of Marxist theories of alienation, the present paper focuses on Marxists notion of alienation and the issues that cause alienation such as the unaccepted dominant ideologies and the immature structure of West-Indian community in Trinidad and their state of unhomeliness and rootlessness. The present study sets to find the traces of alienation and how Mr. Biswas is alienated from his community. The main conclusion of the research is that Mr. Biswas’ schizoid symptoms prove Mr. Biswas’s alienated identity inflicted upon him by the capitalist society in which he lives.
