Low Power Quadrature Voltage Controlled Oscillator Designed in 0.18μm CMOS Technology

This paper presents a new low power, low cost highly linear quadrature voltage controlled oscillator (QVCO). Architecture of this oscillator is a two-stage differential ringwith an additional pair of inductive-modelling transistors. The circuit is designed in 0.18μm CMOS technology. The resultsshow that the oscillation frequency of VCO may vary between0.6-3.6GHz. Also, the phase noise of the VCO at oscillation frequency of 2.5GHz is -95dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset frequency.Also, the power consumption is 3.6mW at the same oscillation frequency. The proposed target of application is the core of the local oscillator in a low power low cost transceivers
