Morphological evaluation of vascular changes of the ovarian tissue after treatment with extract ofSalvia Officinalis at pre-implantation time.

Salvia Officinalis consists of steroid and isoflavonoids,which are considered asphytoestrogens.The effiect of S.officinalis on ovarian angiogenesis morphological changes at thepreimplantation time is unknown. The aim of this research is to evaluate histomorphometric parameters ofangiogenesis in the ovarian tissue of mice after exposure to S.officinalis at preimplantation time.Method: The extract of S. officinalis leaves, which was analyzed by phytochemical methods, administeredat a dose of ۱۰۰ mg/kg daily for ۱۴ days to female mice.Then, pseudopregnancy was induced and ovariantissue samples were removed. Mice were sacrificed at the preimplantation time.Ovarian tissue sampleswere collected for histological assessment. After staining,evaluation of vascular density and intravasculararea was done.The Motic Image Plus۲ software was served to measure the quantitative vascularparameters. Sections with magnification×۴۰۰.These data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test bythe SPSS software.
