چکیده مقاله:

Background: In recent years, there have been significant improvements in training methods aimed at optimizing sports performance. Among these innovative approaches, resistance training with blood flow restriction (BFR) and fenugreek supplementation have emerged as potential strategies to enhance muscle growth and increase strength in athletes. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of resistance training with BFR along with fenugreek supplement on the serum levels of myogenin and myostatin in adolescent male soccer players. Method: The study followed a semi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test for eight weeks. The participants included ۲۰ adolescent soccer players from the Imam Reza sports club in Tehran (height: ۱۷۳.۳۲±۸.۰۱cm; weight: ۵۵.۸۷±۷.۸۲kg; age: ۱۵.۱۹±۱.۰۳years; body mass index: ۱۸.۴۹±۱.۹۳). They voluntarily participated in the study and were randomly divided into four groups: resistance training with BFR and fenugreek supplement (۵ people), resistance training with fenugreek supplement (۵ people), resistance training with BFR (۵ people), and resistance training (control group). After collecting a resting blood sample in the fasting state, all the subjects participated in the resistance training program for eight weeks, with four sessions per week. The experimental groups consumed ۵۰۰ mg of fenugreek seed powder or a placebo daily in the form of gelatin capsules. After the eight-week period, blood samples were taken again and evaluated in the laboratory using myogenin and myostatin ELISA kits. Results: The findings of the research showed that only the resistance training group with BFR and fenugreek supplement exhibited a significant increase in serum levels of myogenin compared to the control group (P<۰.۰۵). However, the serum levels of myostatin showed a non-significant decrease in this group (P≥۰.۰۵). There was no significant difference observed in the other experimental groups compared to the control group (P≥۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Therefore, the study concluded that performing resistance training with BFR along with fenugreek supplementation can have anabolic effects on adolescent male soccer players.
