چکیده مقاله:

Since the industrial revolution, human emissions of carbon dioxide have grown exponentially, accumulating in the atmosphere and leading to global warming. Keeping atmospheric warming below ۲°C is crucial to avoid the most serious consequences of climate change. One of the key solutions to address carbon dioxide production is carbon capture and storage (CCS). Understanding the dispersion of carbon dioxide under storage conditions is essential for the advancement of CCS. While there is extensive experience in similar fields from a technological perspective, the integration of individual components into a comprehensive carbon dioxide storage system and scaling up to effectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions has not been achieved. Additionally, there are concerns regarding the long-term fate of geologically stored carbon dioxide. When considering deep underground storage of carbon dioxide from power plants and other large sources, the potential for leakage during injection and over time through porous earth layers or seals must be taken into account. An understanding of the long-term impacts of stored carbon dioxide is crucial. Therefore, further investigation into the physical and chemical mechanisms of carbon dioxide trapping is necessary.
