Effect of Precursor Concentration on the Electrochemical and Optical Band gap of Electrochemically Synthesized LaFeO۳ Perovskite Oxide

An electrochemical deposition technique is utilized to prepare nano-sized, perovskite-structured LaFeO۳ (LFO). LFO was synthesized at three distinct concentrations of ۲.۵ mM, ۵ mM, and ۱۰ mM of precursors. The synthesized perovskite oxide was physically and electrochemically characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis spectroscopy (U.V.), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) analyses. The XRD revealed that a single perovskite phase of LaFeO۳ was obtained. As the precursor concentration was raised from ۲.۵ mM to ۵ mMand ۱۰ mM, the average size of LFO exhibited an increase, reaching approximately ۱۸.۹ nm, ۲۳.۱ nm, and ۲۶.۸ nm, respectively. U.V. absorption and CV analyses were conducted to determine the optical and electrochemical band gaps of the LFO perovskite oxide. The optical band gap of the films exhibited a reduction from ۳.۵۰ to ۳.۴۸ and ۳.۴۷ eV, with an increase in concentration from ۲.۵ mM to ۵ mM and ۱۰ mM. Simultaneously, the electrochemical band gap decreased from ۲.۶۱, ۲.۲۶, to ۱.۸۶ eV for the corresponding concentrations of precursors. All the performed studies verified a notable modification of optical properties with a variation in precursor concentration.
