چکیده مقاله:

Addiction is a chronic psychiatric disease that is spreading in many societies, including Iran. Drug addiction is a complex phenomenon that affects different aspects of a person's life. Among the psychological consequences of addiction, we can mention mood disorders and impulse control disorders, forgetfulness, hallucinations and delusions, etc. Since the consequences of addiction, especially the psychological consequences, cause disturbances in a person's life, and considering the role of psychological factors in substance dependence and the continuation of addiction, it is necessary to use third wave psychological interventions in addition to pharmacological and biological treatments. One of the new and third wave psychological treatments used in the field of addiction is dialectical behavior therapy. The application of dialectical behavior therapy has developed over time and is currently used to treat many problems such as depression, anxiety, anger, substance abuse, and eating disorders. This article is a review of the use of dialectical behavior therapy techniques, which is considered as a complementary treatment along with other treatments. Based on theoretical and research bases, it can be said that dialectical behavior therapy is an effective intervention for substance use disorders.
