COVID-۱۹, Urban Life, and City Design: A Comprehensive Review on Changes and Effects

Throughout history, epidemics have greatly impacted the formation of cities; many health issues have changed conceptual attitudes in urban design and architecture to control and adapt to new conditions. The purpose of this research is to examine and explain the issues and priorities of urban design and development in the face of the damages of the Coronavirus to obtain suitable solutions concerning the architectural and urban environment. Studies show that light, air, and nature may be the factors that during quarantine provide the best time to learn more about indoor gardens, even in the case of multi-story constructions, and draw more attention to the fifth view of buildings or the green roof. Moreover, Human proximity in densely populated cities brings more risks; the larger the population, the higher the concentration of the Coronavirus in cities. Considering the effect of social distancing, planners and architects may design to expand horizontal methods with more available space, which can be necessary to prevent the spread of infections and diseases. As a result, architecture and urban planning will never be the same after the coronavirus pandemic.
