The COVID-۱۹ pandemic has had a significant impact on urban design, prompting a shift in focus toward creating more resilient, adaptable, and healthy cities. This review article aims to evaluat e the lessons learned from the pandemic and identify the key factors that have contributed to effective urban design responses. It also discusses the successes and failures of urban design responses, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the field in a post-pandemic world. The first section of the article explores the impact of the pandemic on urban design. It highlights the need for cities to prioritize public health and safety and discusses the role of urban design in promoting physical distancing, active transportation, and outdoor public spaces. The section also analyzes the impact of the pandemic on urban planning processes and identifies the need for more flexible and adaptive planning frameworks. The second section evaluates the lessons learned from the pandemic and the responses of different cities around the world. It identifies several key factors that have contributed to effective urban design responses, including the use of technology, community engagement, and the integration of public health considerations into urban planning. The section also discusses the importance of addressing systemic inequalities and ensuring equitable access to public space and services. The third section of the article examines the potential long-term implications of the pandemic on urban design. It discusses the need for cities to prioritize resilience and adaptability in the face of future pandemics and other crises and identifies the potential for increased emphasis on remote work and online services. The fourth section of the article identifies the challenges and opportunities facing urban design in a post-pandemic world. The final section of the article proposes strategies and recommendations for urban design to adapt and thrive in the aftermath of COVID-۱۹.
