THE SEISMIC REHABILITATION OF KHARRAQAN TOMB TOWERS

The importance of seismic consolidation and rehabilitation in historic architecture has been emerged in Iran only ofter the damage of the magnificent historic earthen walled citadel in the Bam. The Kharraqan tomb towers are two eminent example of Seljukid Empire heavily damaged in Changureh-Avaj earthquake of June 22nd 2002 in Qazvin province which have been restored by Qazvin Cultural Heritage Organization. In these papers our aim is a general survey about quality of seismic rehabilitation and consolidation in these monuments across following point of view: • Analyses of collapse mechanics detected in the towers due to the earthquake • Some notification regarding structural modeling • Vulnerability and study the seismic resistance of restored towers after seismic event • A general consideration about restoration and historic structures.
