The Effectiveness of TDCS-Based Therapy on Depressive Symptoms and Attention of People with Depressive Symptoms

One of the current therapies for treating depression is transracial direct current stimulation or TDCS.This study aimed to determine TDCS-based therapy's effectiveness on depressive symptoms and people'sattention with depressive symptoms. The research design was pre-and posttest with the control group. Asample of ۲۴ participants (۱۲ in the experimental and ۱۲ in the control group) was select from peoplewith depressive symptoms selected by available sampling. The research tools were the Beck (۱۹۷۸)Depression Inventory and Rosvold, Mirsky, Sarason, Bransome Jr, and Beck (۱۹۵۶) ContinuousPerformance Test. Covariance analysis (MANCOVA) was used to analyze the data. The data analysisresults showed that TDCS-based treatment reduced the depression in people with depressive symptomsin the experimental group compared with the control group. However, TDCS-based treatment did notaffect the attention of people with depressive symptoms. This study's findings suggest that TDCS-basedtherapy by stimulating the left posterior-lateral and right posterior-lateral side of the prefrontal areaeffectively reduces depression in people with depressive symptoms.
