The effects of Galega Officinalis as ingredients of functionalfood on the treatments of type ۲ diabetes patients

چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Diabetes is one of the most common endocrine diseases in the world andis responsible for the death of about ۴ million people per year. Diabetes is not known as just onedisease, but includes a series of metabolic diseases that are caused by disturbances in insulinsecretion or insulin action, or both, and are characterized by high blood sugar. The prevalence oftype ۱ and type ۲ diabetes is increasing worldwide, but the rate of increase of type ۲ diabetes ishigher than that of type ۱ diabetes. The factors of this increase can be due to lifestyle changes,prevalence of obesity and decrease in physical activity. Medicinal plant, Galega officinalis led tothe discovery and synthesis of metformin. Galega has long been used in traditional medicine totreat diabetes. This plant is cultivated in Iran and is considered a native plant. Galega officinalisextract shows inhibitory effects on genetically programmed cell death, which shows thenormalization of the number of white blood cells containing proteins that regulate apoptosis (P۵۳and Bcl-۲) and poly-(ADP) proteins. -ribosylated in leukocytes of laboratory miceMethods : Administering Galega as a main ingredient of Functional cake under the ۶۰ days controlclinical trials conditions on ۳۶ patients with type ۲ diabetes has been done with filling a primaryhealth information questioner from volunteer candidate. All blood diabetic indicator parametershave been measured properly. The data analyzed by ANOVA and the differences between groupshas been done by Duncan method of SPSS software. The study was approved by the researchcouncil and ethics committee by approve No. of IR.IAU.PS.REC.۱۳۹۸.۱۲۰ in Islamic Azad TehranMedical Science University (pharmacy and pharmaceutical science faculty).Results : The results of this study showed that G. officinalis with amount of ۲۰۰mg comparingother three groups (including control) have proper effects on all parameters specially Fasten BloodSugar (FBS) which can be beneficial for the treatment of diabetes.Conclusion : Even ۴th group not only reduction in FBS but also showed significant reduction ofbody mass Index (BMI) but further experiments with more data and longer period are required forapplication of the results.
