چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Trichomoniasis is a disease caused by the parasite Trichomonas vaginalisand is the most common sexually transmitted disease after viral infections. Due to the increasingprevalence of this disease and increasing reports of metronidazole resistance, it is a common drugfor treatment and teratogenicity. The possibility of studying this alternative drug for the treatmentof trichomoniasis seems necessary. Emodin has been proposed as the antibacterial, fungal and anticancercompounds underlying this study. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antitrichomonialeffects of methanolic extract of Rhamnus cathartica and nanoemodin on T. vaginalisin vitro. Methods : T. vaginalis should be isolated from the secretions of women referred to medical centerswithout a history of metronidazole use. ۵۰, ۱۰۰, ۲۰۰, ۴۰۰ and ۸۰۰ μg / ml were prepared. Theeffect of different concentrations at ۳, ۶, ۱۲, ۲۴ and ۴۸ hours on the parasite in ۲۴-well platescontaining TYM in comparison with positive control of metronidazole. Results were analyzed bySPSS-۲۲ software and analysis of variance tests. Results : Methanolic extract of Rhamnus cathartica and nanoemodine at all concentrations hadacceptable antiparasitic effects against T. vaginalis. At concentrations of ۴۰۰ and ۸۰۰ μg/mlnanoamodine and ۸۰۰ μg/ml of methanolic extract of Rhamnus cathartica, better effects thanpositive control have been reported. IC۵۰ levels of methanolic extract of Rhamnus cathartica andnano-emodin were reported to be ۷.۸۸ and ۷.۸۵ μg/ml, respectively. Conclusion : Considering the lethal power of methanolic extract of Rhamnus cathartica andnanoemodin on T. vaginalis and the better effect than positive controls, it can be concluded thatthe above compounds can be a suitable candidate for treatment after further studies
