Identifying and Ranking the Factors Affecting Companies' Financial Helplessness by Considering the Three Functional Areas of Financial Helplessness, Financial Bankruptcy and Good (normal) Financial AreaCase Study: Tehran Stock Exchange companies between 2017-2020

Considering the special importance of the concept of financial helplessness and the location of this sector between the two sectors of bankruptcy and the normal financial sector of organizations, the need to examine the factors affecting it and the correct decision of investors and capital market participants, the present study aimed to identify and rank the factors affecting financial helplessness based on Tehran Stock Exchange companies between 2017-2020. Sampling was done purposefully and individuals from elites, professors, and experts in the subject were selected to complete the matrix of pairwise comparison questionnaire. The analysis of the data collected in this study is based on fuzzy AHP. To answer the research questions, first, the factors affecting the financial helplessness of companies were identified and ranked, and in this regard, the factors affecting helplessness were classified into three areas of sales, debt, and profit, and their sub-criteria were identified. The results show that according to experts, profit with a weight of 0.433 is in the first place, sales with a weight of 0.346 are in the second place and debt with a weight of 0.221 is in the third place. According to the final ranking results, it can be said that net profit to total assets in the first place, pre-interest profit and tax to total assets in the second place, net profit to equity in the third place, net profit to current assets in the fourth place and net sales to total assets rank fifth in terms of impact on financial distress among the 26 factors identified. Because a significant number of listed companies have been studied, the results can also be generalized to over-the-counter companies.
