The role of aggregation algorithms in wireless sensor networks is to reduce the load of transferred data. In this way, considering the correlation between the sensed data can serve this purpose more. In this paper, we propose a new aggregation method based on lossy centralized source coding. In our method, we employ the inherent spatial correlation between data extracted from the distributed sensors and apply Rate-Distortion theory on them to reduce the bit size required for sending to sink. The mathematical model for this method is constructed for both field and point source physical model. The evaluation results show only a few elements are enough to recover original data under high correlation model within the user tolerable distortion rate.
