چکیده مقاله:

Background and Objective: Traditional medicine has been a valuable resource for many years, and Iranians has a long history of using natural compounds such as medicinal herbs. ۷۰-۸۰% of people in the world use herbal medicines because they believe that these medicines are cheap and available with no side effects (۱). The aim of this review is to evaluate and summarize studies on the Herbal Medicine use in breast cancer patients. Search Method: Search sources were PubMed, Scopus, and Iranian Database such as: SID, Magiran, and Iranmedex. In addition, we assessed the quality of studies with the CONSORT (۲) and STROBE. This review did not consider control groups and outcomes. Eighty-four studies met a set of criteria. The inclusion criteria were full text articles published from ۲۰۱۰ to ۲۰۲۰, and related to this search via title and abstract. The articles which we didn't have access to their full text were excluded. According to interventions, there were ۷۱ studies, which included herbal medicines. Findings: Herbal medicines with various mechanisms, such as changes in morphology and cell membrane, induction of apoptosis, alterations in mitochondrial activity, etc (۳) Have their effect on breast cancer cells. With the high tendency of people to use herbal medicines for the treatment of breast cancer, there is a possibility of arbitrary use of these drugs. It should be noted that the arbitrary use of these drugs could cause drug interactions with other common drugs (۴،۵). Conclusion: In conclusion, since most studies were at moderate or high quality levels, Herbal medicine could be helpful for treating specific symptoms related to breast cancer.
