Social Behaviors and Coastal Affordances; A Study on Jofre Mahini Neighborhood on the coast of Boushehr

Anything around the human being is the environment that can be physical, social,psychological, or behavioral. Every constructed environment and its affordances operate according to the needs and motivations of people resided in it. The process of meeting these needs provokes an attempt by the human being that is called activity. The way these activities are done or behaviors originate from the motivations and are related to the affordances of the environment. The present study is a descriptive analytic research uses qualitative method of observation and also S.W.O.T tool. It aims to examine the behaviors in social and constructed environment of coasts and to answer the question of how people’s social behaviors and coastal affordances affect each other. In particular, it seeks to evaluate the behaviors expressed in Jofre Mahini neighborhood on the shore of Boushehr, which were observed and recorded within a year, and to find out environmental affordances of the coastal neighborhood based on its geographicallocation. With regard to this, after obtaining basic information, the research approach is directed toward objective and uncontrolled observations and field studies to record the relationships among residents of this neighborhood and their required collective spaces. The findings are categorized and the behaviors are coded. Finally, after analyzing the behaviors and potentials of the coast, solutions for improving environmental conditions of Jofre Mahini coast will be presented along with the selective and necessary activities to increase the level of social activities in coastal environments.
