Evaluation the Therapeutic Effects of Gold Nanoparticles Combined with Chitosan and Aloe vera Gel on Second Degree Burn Wound in a Diabetic Rats

Background & Aims: Skin resurfacing is a very important field of tissue engineering, especially for developed burns. At a time when common treatments to stimulate skin regeneration in the world are not satisfactory and effective enough. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the therapeutic effects of gold nanoparticles combined with chitosan and Aloe vera gel on burn wound in a diabetic rat.Methods: In this experimental study, ۶۰ males rats diabetic with streptozotocin weighing ۱۵۰ ± ۳۵ g were randomly divided into ۶ groups. Wounds of rats in the first group were treated with silver sulfadiazine cream, the second group with gold nanoparticles, the third group with chitosan gel, the fourth group with aloe vera gel, the fifth group with modified nanoparticles with chitosan gel and aloe vera, the sixth group without medication. On days ۱, ۷, ۱۴, ۲۱ and ۲۸, three rats from each group were biopsied from the burn site and the samples were examined histopathologically and also the amount of fibroblasts in different groups using one-way analysis of variance. Was evaluated.Results: The mean number of fibroblasts in the group treated with gold nanoparticles modified with chitosan and aloe vera gel showed a significant difference with other groups treated without the use of drugs. Also, the burn wounds in the group treated with gold nanoparticles modified withchitosan and aloe vera gel healed one week earlier than the other groups. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, gold nanoparticles modified with chitosan and aloe vera gel can be used as a suitable candidate for the treatment of diabetic burn wounds
