Origins of Water Pollution in Tanjaro River

The accumulation of a huge quantity of hazardous waste in the Tanjero area environment has become a serious concern. Tanjero River is facing a water crisis due to dumped millions of tons of various waste materials and pollutants in to the Tanjero area this is sourced from household, industrial, transports, mining and agricultural wastes. Discharge of untreated wastewater and industrial wastewater, as well as wild garbage dumps in the bank area. In addition, vast industrial processes occurring in this area were led to introducing variety of pollution to the river. Nitrate and phosphate concentrations in rivers have increased due to increasing application of fertilizers to maximize growing crops. Subsequently, high level of these nutrients entered into the river by agricultural run-offs, which may cause a condition known as “Eutrophication”.
