Synthesis of novel 1,2,4-triazole derivatives

In this research, an efficient approach for the synthesis of some new 1,2,4-triazole derivatives is reported.1 In relation to our research interest on the synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds,2 Various hydrazonoyles were reacted with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide via in situ formation of nitrilimines at reflux conditions. One of the intermediates has been isolated and identified by IR and NMR spectroscopy. A plausible mechanism for this transformation has been proposed and discussed. All synthesized compounds are stable solids whose structures were determined on the basis of their mass spectrum, 1H and 13C NMR and IR spectroscopic data.
