چکیده مقاله:
In the era of advanced engineering and technologies to meet humanneeds, countless people, even in developing countries like Iran, stillstruggle to find a freshwater supply. Although located at the PersianGulf's heart with an immense amount of ocean water, more than 10% ofthe Qeshm Island population has no access to drinkable water. Themulti-effect distillation desalination (MED) system is recognized as oneof the most thermodynamically efficient systems with a tremendouscapacity to produce pure water from the sea. Additionally, thecapability to function with almost all heat supply sources, namely heatpumps, recovered or waste heat, fossil fuel burners, and particularlysustainable energies is a notable feature of this system. In this paper,an attempt was made to positively improve the MED system's efficiencyrequired to yield the needed freshwater of Qeshm Island by integratingnovel engineering sciences and technologies such as heat recoverytechniques, solar PVT farm, heat pumps, and dehumidificationprocesses.
