The histometeric alterations of the thyroid of Epinephelus coioides affected by Vibrio alginoliticus

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of opportunistic bacteria (V.alginolyticus) on the histometeric parameters of thyroid in E. coioides. For thispurpose, a total number of 50 specimens (20.8± 0.2 Cm mean length) were exposedto this bacteria for a week.. The first group (control) received no injection and secondgroup received 10 7 cfu / ml V. alginolyticus intraperitoneally. On days 1, 4, 7 tissuesamples were isolated from fish s pharyngeal region and after routine histologicalprocess, stained with H & E. Measurement of histometeric parameters was used byDino capture software. The results showed that on the day 4, thyrocyte height, folliclediameter and area were not different compared to control. But on day 7, a significantdecrease of thyrocyte height (P<0.05) and significant increase in thyroid folliculardiameter and area were observed compared to the control (P<0.05).
